Three versions of gas-phase CO2-O2 analysers are available, an integrated, stand-alone highly portable version (Q-S159) and two modular research packages for low and high animal respirometry (see below).
Q-S159 CO2 and O2 Analyser, a versatile combination of a flow-through IRGA/CO2 analyser, a galvanic cell O2 sensor and a built-in pressure sensor. These three independent sensors are mounted in series in a rugged temperature controlled case - ideal for high portability. The CO2 analyser can be customised for different ranges from ppm to % and its resolution depends on the range. The O2 analyser provides measurements in the 0-25% oxygen range with a resolution of ±40 ppm. The pressure sensor measures the absolute pressure at the O2 sensor, and this measurement is used in the software to correct the O2 signal for changes in system pressure. The range of the CO2 sensor is determined by the application - varying from field-based respirometry of small to large animals to environmental monitoring of indoor and outdoor environments. The Q-S159 is a flow-through analyser, and the gas must be delivered to the sensors under pressure. Therefore, the Q-S159 can be purchased as: analyser only (external pump/flux meter required), with a built-in gas pump (Q-S159-P), or with both pump, plus 0-1 L min-1 or 0-2 L min-1 flow monitor (S159-PF1 or S159-PF2). For easiest field use of a "one-case system", the versions with build in pump and flow meter are recommended. Every model is housed in a robust, temperature-controlled case for improved signal stability, making it ideal for field use with an optional battery pack. The Q-S159 provides three 0-5 V analogue outputs (CO2, O2 and pressure). The Q-S159 CO2 and O2 analyser requires a data interface and software for data acquisition and display; we recommend using the data interface and software supplied, but other data acquisition systems are compatible.

Q-RP1LP Low-Range-Respirometry Package, measures the metabolic rate of small animals such as insects, reptiles, amphibians, but also fungal colonies and roots in an open-flow or closed-flow stop-flow gas exchange system. Automatic calculations of both O2 and CO2 change rates are recorded. The Q-S151 CO2 Gas Analyser (0-2000 ppm) and the Q-S102 O2 Sensor are essential components of this research package; the versatility of the system can be extended to up to 8 channels by optional Gas Switching Systems. The Q-RP1LP system is ideal for low concentration measurements (in the 0-2000 ppm CO2 range).
Q-RP2LP High-Range-Respirometry Package, measures the metabolic rate of larger, more active animals in an open-flow gas exchange system. Automatic, recorded calculations of both O2 and CO2 change rates. The Q-S153 High CO2 Gas Analyser (0-10% CO2) and the Q-S102 O2 Sensor are part of this package; as above, the system can be extended to up to 2–8 parallel measurements with a Gas Switching System. The Q-RP2LP system is ideal for respiratory measurements in more active animals.
For applications requiring multiplexing of 4 to 8 channels in open or stop flow modes, easy to use gas switching systems are available.
If only O2 in the gas phase is of interest for your experimentation, consider the O2 gas analyser models.
