Your research ideas don't always fit with traditional catalogue products? At VSI, we pride ourselves on applying our knowledge and experience in scientific instrument design, prototyping and manufacturing to solve the technological challenges you face. When you "talk custom" with Vienna Scientific, you are working with a cross-functional team of scientists, engineers and technicians who are ready to help you bring your ideas to life.
We design and build research equipment, ranging from chambers, rhizoboxes and robust soil corers to automated sampling, allocation and measurement equipment. We can either build the open hardware of your choice or design a new product. Either way, we are able to provide a one-stop service, from reviewing the state-of-the-art, to model design and prototype verification, from rapid model manufacturing to make-to-stock production.
A prototype is the working version of your solution. We build your scientific prototypes, using a wide range of in-house materials and engineers specialised in mechanics, electronics and software. Our expert support allows researchers and entrepreneurs to focus on scientific aims, innovation and business opportunities. Rapid prototyping is achieved through the use of 3D-printing and laser cutting technologies.
Vienna Scientific Instruments is able to create custom-made spare and wear parts for many research instruments, including mechanical and electrical parts. To order to customize or reverse engineer spare parts, we either need a blueprint and detail information on the material, or we need to get our hands on a (broken) part.
Vienna Scientific Instruments provides hands-on technical support to the research community in Austria and neighbouring countries through its Field & Technical Services. Field technicians can be booked for planning, installation, maintainance and repair of technical installations at field experimental sites - alone or in cooperation with research teams / technical staff of the institution.
The development and production of scientific instruments requires the integration of a number of manufacturing activities. Vienna Scientific Instruments has chosen to keep key skills in-house to ensure quality, cost effective and rapid production. The workshop consists of the following sections:
